This thesis consists of 5 non-linear stories about 5 different objects that reveal traces of displacement, nostalgia, migration, family history and (be)longing. Why do we project ourmemories/personalities onto objects and give meaning to the meaningless? and how can they act as a mirror of our own personal histories? Various research methods are carried out in order to further understand the reasons behind this peculiar habit. A research into my own memory, theories behind the human relation to the artefact world, popular culture, and then further diving into the causes, such as nostalgia, cultural identity/bereavement within an art context through an analysis of a photographic series and also my own work as an artist.
